Huge originals in WeChat either take forever to send or get compressed again into a soft mess. Shrinking to “good enough” yourself usually looks more predictable.
Chat and Moments
Chat thumbnails can be smaller. When someone must read a table or homework writing, keep a longer edge and ask them to open the full image if you send the original.
For multi-image Moments posts, oversized singles slow the whole set. Normalize the longest edge first, then tweak quality.
Screenshots with small text suffer sooner than landscapes. Keep quality higher, or crop empty margins first.
Suggested settings
Everyday sharing: longest edge 1280 or 1920, quality around 75–85%, then check the preview.
For a whole album, Batch Resize to one max edge, then Image Compress. Convert first when needed; photos are usually fine as JPEG or WebP.
Do not re-save an already sent compressed copy. Start again from the camera roll original.
Before you send
Check faces, handwriting, and QR codes in the preview. For privacy, strip EXIF or crop street numbers out of the background.
Compression runs in your local browser and is not uploaded to our servers. After you send in WeChat, their own rules may still re-encode the file—plan for that.
